Jermaine Jackson is a garbage truck driver in Virginia. He was on his way to pick up trash when he saw an abandoned dog in a dumpster. Jackson, who has two dogs of his own at home, could hardly bear to see the dog stuck in the dumpster.
Jackson assumed that someone had put the dog in the dumpster on purpose because it was too small to jump into it. He rescued it from the trash bin and called Animal Control. While he waited for them, he got blankets, food, and water for the dog.
When Animal Control arrived, he handed over the dog. If you are unable to care for a pet, do not abandon the animal. If you can’t afford to take proper care of your pet, then give it to someone who can.
Go to your local animal shelter or call your veterinarian or humane society and ask them what they recommend you do. You may also have your animal spayed or neutered to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. It may cost you some money, but it’s better than giving it away.
Don’t forget the pain and heartache associated with unwanted litter. It’s never fair to bring puppies or kittens into this world without giving them a chance at having a good life. They are not disposable items that can be cast aside when they get too old or too sick to be of use.
They need you for their daily care. Abandoning your pet means abandoning a member of your family who needs you more than ever. Pets rely on you so much that it would be unthinkable to abandon them just because they have become inconvenient to you in some way.
Instead of abandoning your pets, you must make sure they have the best life possible. You must also do everything in your power to ensure that they will continue to live comfortably even after you are gone.
