Animal control offices in Greenville, South Carolina spotted a cardboard box sitting in a ditch. When they checked what was inside, they found an emaciated Chihuahua that shook uncontrollably.
They picked him up and then transferred him to the local animal shelter called Greenville Pet Rescue, which later on asked help from their partner organization Day Before the Rainbow Rescue (DBTR).
Arriving at the DBTR, the dog, named Bong, later on, was in extreme shock. He trembled out of fear and extreme cold. He was just so terrified that no matter how much the workers tried to calm him down, he just couldn’t relax.
To try and put him quite at ease, the vets decided to administer some pills. They hoped that with some medication, he’d realize he was in a safe place and that no one would be able to hurt him again. And thankfully, the meds took effect and he was able to at least eat on his own.
Bong stayed at the vet’s office for two days and surprisingly, he got all better. He didn’t need to undergo any type of procedure. All he needed was some love from his rescue friends and he was all over his dark past and ready to move on.
Once released from the hospital, Bong immediately began searching for his new home. His rescuers thought it would take a little longer for him to get adopted but they were wrong. Because the first time Jessica Fine, his new mom, saw him, she knew she had to have him.
Jessica was Bong’s perfect match, everyone at DBTR agreed. They knew she’d give him a great life so they made arrangements and let her pick him up the soonest possible time.
From the moment he stepped foot in her house, Bong knew he was home. And just like how his mom fell in love with him the very moment she saw him, he, too, was smitten with her.
Under the care of his new mom, Bong transformed into a happy, plumped, and tubby boy. He’s way over his past as if nothing ever happened. He proved that love alone can heal any wounds in the past.
