Most dogs are trained to just follow basic commands. They do not get any special training for being heroes, but they somehow know what to do when emergencies arise.
A great example of this happened just this January when a dog living in Australia was brave enough to save her fur mom during an emergency. The dog seemed to know what to do to help out her fur mom.
This brave dog is Max and he is a Siberian Husky. He is owned by Shaune Martin, who lives in Ipswich, Queensland.
One day, Shaune decided to take a walk in the Augustine Heights suburbs and bring Max with her. While they were at it, a car suddenly came careening towards them. It hit Shaune and the tree beside her. The driver seemed to try to stop the vehicle but it was going so fast that it came to a stop 100 meters from where it had hit Shaune.
At first, the driver thought that he had only hit a tree. He didn’t realize that he also hit Shaune, who came out to be injured badly. She had bad injuries on her head as well as fractures on her waist, arm, and hip. Aside from getting hit by the car, the tree that the car also hit fell down right on top of her. Nobody knew she was under the tree.
It was a good thing that Max was there. Unlike other dogs who were involved in an accident, Max did not run away. He knew his fur mom needed help so he ran to get the help she needed.
David Symes, Shaune’s fiancé, saw Max without his fiancé and the dog was covered in blood. He knew right then and there that there was something wrong. He allowed Max to lead him.
Max brought David to where Shaune was and he was able to get to Shaune. It was a good thing that Max knew what to do because Shaune survived and is now on her towards recovery. Max is surely a hero dog and that was why he was awarded the Animal Hero Award by the RSPCA, a charity that advocates animal welfare.
