Unlike humans, dogs live a far shorter life than us. This is why families that have dogs cherish every single day that they spend with their dogs.
Dogs can also get cancer and it is often recommended that they be put to sleep instead of letting them suffer through the disease.
A Florida family was devastated when their dog named Wilson was diagnosed with cancer, which has already spread throughout his body. Wilson was already 14 years old during his diagnosis and has lived a full and happy life with his family. Although short, all 14 years that Wilson spent with his family were full of love and happiness.
The vets recommended that Wilson should be put to sleep to avoid letting him suffer when his cancer gets worse. It was a hard decision for Wilson’s family but they knew that it was for Wilson’s own good and they also couldn’t bear watching their beloved dog suffer from his illness.
However, instead of feeling sorry for themselves, Wilson’s family organized to do something special for Wilson before the day came. Wilson’s family wanted to make sure that Wilson’s final days on Earth would be as fun and happy as possible.
Wilson’s family made sure that Wilson was treated like royalty on his remaining days. Everyone in the family was closely involved in giving their beloved dog the best final days of his life. The weekend before he was put to sleep, his family gave him medications to make it more comfortable for him during the outing.
Wilson was brought to the beach where he could enjoy the sand and water and he was also taken to a restaurant in Pensacola Beach called Shaggy’s Restaurant. When the staff learned about Wilson’s story, they decided to give Wilson the best treatment that they could possibly give him.
Wilson was given cheeseburgers and fries as well as ice cream for dessert. Wilson even got an entire plate of bacon while the restaurant staff sat down with him and gave him pets and words of comfort and encouragement. Wilson got to spend an amazing last day with his family and that was all that his family could ever want for him.
On Monday night, Wilson was put to sleep. Wilson’s death may have been painful for his family but they know that Wilson’s in a better place. They’re also happy that people went out of their way to give their dog an amazing day. Here’s a heartwarming video telling Wilson’s story.
