Henry is a handsome Golden Retriever that lives in a beautiful home with his fur mom and dad, Lindsay and Brandon, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He gets lots of love, attention, and treats all the time. Surely, he lives the best life any dog could ever imagine. But unknown to many, he went through a lot before he found the start of his happy ending.
Rescuers found Henry chained up in a tunnel in China. He was in the worst condition that they could not even identify his breed. They unchained him and took him straight to the vet for treatment, but they didn’t think he would make it.
At under 30 pounds, Henry was surely underweight. He starved for a very long time and it took months before he added weight. But while his progress was slow at first, it was steady, and that’s what mattered most.
Eventually, Henry achieved his healthy weight and grew a beautiful shiny coat that revealed he was a Golden Retriever. From that point, he and the people around him found his identity. And from that point, everyone knew he was ready to start fresh.
From China, Henry flew to the United States to meet his new mom and dad. When they introduced him to his new sisters, he knew right away that he was home. He just fit in perfectly with his new family and he didn’t want to leave them, not even for a second.
Henry improved a lot, thanks to his rescuers. But with his adoptive family beside him, he thrived even more. People who knew about his dark past couldn’t believe he was the same dog rescued from the verge of death, and neither could he.
Lindsay and Brandon notice Henry has this weird habit of staring at his reflection. He looks at himself through the mirror or through the glass of the TV stand. He just has to stare at himself and he is so proud.
Henry knew he did so well to become who he is right now. He wouldn’t have made it out of the tunnel alive without his rescuers but he knew that his resiliency and love for life played a huge part in his recovery. Way to go, Henry!
