A couple was walking their dogs when they came across a stray pup that was in a horrible situation. She was lying in a ditch, shivering and cowering in fear. Her body was beaten up, her legs were tied, and her mouth was bound with tape.
Almost dead
The two kind humans were stunned for a moment, then quickly started helping the dog get loose. The man told his wife to call for help while he set the dog free. The pooch was tied so tight that he found it difficult to get her out of her restraints.
Just as when he was about to get the dog out of her bindings, the rescuers arrived. They took the poor pooch and brought her to a vet. There they discovered that the dog was almost frozen already. She would have died if no one found her.
The dog, which they named Tatiana, was also treated for various extensive injuries, especially to the head. She was kept at the hospital for a few weeks until she recovered enough to continue her recuperation in the rescue group’s shelter.
Weekly visits
Tatiana’s wounds and scars may have healed and faded, but the fear and trauma inside her lingered on. She was constantly nervous around humans, most especially with men. She was even scared of other dogs.
The pooch was deemed unadoptable by the shelter staff.
But as time passed, Tatiana learned how to trust again. Thanks to the love and patience of the shelter staff, she became friendly and affectionate. This made her close to the hearts of the people taking care of her.
One of the volunteers formed a special bond with the dog and she decided to bring her home during the weekends. She wanted the dog to feel how to live with a family. Eventually, the kind volunteer made those visits into a permanent living situation. She adopted Tatiana and now, after ten long years, she finally has her own family.
