Bruce and Jen, a Canadian couple, were in Macedonia with their family when they met a pup that would soon be a permanent part of their home.
After having a sumptuous dinner one night, the Turner family was resting outside their rented home and then they saw an injured puppy walking inside the property. The pup was limping and he looked extremely emaciated. They felt pity for the homeless pup and found him something to eat and drink.
They could see that the pup was very grateful but he didn’t stick around for the night. After devouring his meal, he explored the property and was soon gone.
Spinal cord injury
But the next day, the small pup, who they named Chachi, was back again. The family fell in love with the dog because he was quite cheerful and friendly despite his situation. They decided to help him and they looked for a vet.
When the animal doctor came, he took a look at the dog and took some samples. He said that the dog has a spinal cord injury and was very malnourished.
By that time, the couple had already decided that they were going to take the dog back with them. They were leaving in several days and hoped that they can find him a cure for his condition back in their home in Toronto.
But just a day before they were scheduled to leave, the vet came back and told them that the pup was too sick to make the flight. He needed to get a bit stronger so that he could fly. The couple was dismayed. They couldn’t miss their flights and it seemed that they had to leave the dog behind.
Going home
Thankfully, Brad’s parents volunteered to stay behind and wait for the dog to get better. No matter how long it took.
After ten days, they were on a flight back to Canada, including Chachi.
Bruce and Jen were ecstatic, They waited excitedly for their arrival and what followed next was a very heartwarming reunion.
Although the vets in Toronto said that the spinal cord injury was permanent, it didn’t stop Chachi from being a happy dog. He now has a loving family that cares for all his needs.
