Residents at a quiet suburban neighborhood in California made countless reports about a huge dog that has been roaming in their area. For almost a year, authorities from animal control and rescuers from animal welfare groups came to get the Great Pyrenees but he was so elusive that no one was able to catch him.
The dog, later named Miles, was very gentle and sociable. He would come near people especially when they offer him food. But every time he feels that someone was trying to get him, he would quickly create some distance and eventually run away.
During those time, some people in the neighborhood would post pictures and stories about Miles and his elusiveness. And this got a woman named Megan Allen very interested in him.
Determined
The animal-loving woman wanted to help Miles. She could see that he was just scared and didn’t know that the people trying to catch him were there to give him a better life. So she decided to try and see if she could get him.
After a couple of days of making some inquiries, Megan then went to the area to rescue the big white dog. She brought some cookies with her and was able to make contact with the dog. But whenever she tried to slip a leash on him, he would back away. Tired of the woman trying to catch her, Miles then took off.
But Megan was determined to help the pooch. SO She got in her car and searched for him. For the next seven hours, Megan would find the dog and the same thing would happen again. She finally understood why no one could catch him. So She decided to call her mission off and get some help.
Finally
Megan got in touch with Danny Spanks, a seasoned dog rescuer. They planned to trap Miles so he can be rescued. A week after her first attempt, Megan, along with Danny and her friend Courtney, went back to the area. Danny was able to lure Miles to an abandoned dog park that was fenced in. He was able to trap the big pup inside and Courtney eventually got a leash over the dog’s head.
Everyone was overjoyed.
They then brought the dog to a foster home where he finally learned how to be a dog. For the next few weeks, Miles discovered how it is to be living as a pet. The affectionate pup absolutely adored cuddling with his foster mom and interacting with the other foster dogs.
Hopefully, he will soon find his own forever family.
