Ever since Lori Knoble and her husband, John, adopted Anya, the German Shepherd had always been a big help around the house. She would always accompany her fur mom to the laundry room to unload the dryer and even help bring grocery bags from the car to the home.
Anya also started assuming a housekeeper role. She began completing tasks like putting trash in the garbage bin, placing the remote back on the table, and helping unload the dishwasher. Lori was nothing short of impressed with her helpful German Shepherd and would always reward her with extra cuddles for a job well done.
However, it wasn’t until last year when the couple realized just how big of a help Anya was to them. You see, one day, the couple found a tiny stray kitten living in a dumpster near a car wash. Being the animal lover that she was, Lori immediately suggested that they catch her and bring her home, so that was precisely what they did.
At first, they were hesitant to let Anya near the kitty, whom they later named Munchie. Since she was still pretty timid and scared, they wanted to give her some space. So the couple set up a crate in their basement and brought down a litter box and a tiny bed for the cat.
However, the German Shepherd was eager to meet her new playmate and constantly hang out by the basement door. Eventually, the couple let Anya meet Munchie face to face, but the tiny kitten was still too hesitant around the big dog. The pup seemed to understand and gave the cat all the time and space she needed.
Fortunately, before long, Munchie seemed to realize that Anya was a friend and not a threat and began hanging out with her all day. The German Shepherd then helped the kitty adjust from living in the basement to moving into the house. And Lori couldn’t help but gush over their adorable friendship.
It had already been a year since Anya and Munchie met, but they were still as fascinated with each other as before. Watch the duo’s story here.
