Residents of an urban Korean neighborhood were shocked to see three stray dogs walking around the roof of an 18-story building. The top has a sloping metal sheet roofing that has no rail guards or fences on the side. One wrong step could result in a tragedy.
A group of concerned people went up to the roof to check on the dogs. They tried calling out to the three strays but they wouldn’t come near them. As it was night, there was not much they could do. They decided to come back in the morning and just pray that nothing bad would happen to them that night.
Abandoned or strays?
They first thought that somebody abandoned the dogs on the roof. They couldn’t imagine how cruel such a person could be. They reviewed the security tapes of the building, but they didn’t see anyone taking the three dogs up there. Strangely enough, they also didn’t see the dogs walking in by themselves.
So how did they get up there?
The residents called experts in for help. They went to the roof once again and investigated. After a while, they discovered a fire escape by the side.
They saw paw prints by the metal gate, and it only had railings for its body. The dogs could’ve squeezed through it.
With that mystery solved, the next step is to save them.
The rescue
To prevent the dogs from running and falling of the roof, they first put safety nets all over the roof. And in case the worst happens, they also had some safety nets by the ground. They then cooked some food to lure the dogs closer to them. Thankfully, they were able to catch all three safely.
They took the dogs to a vet to have them checked out. All three were healthy and will stay in the clinic until they could find someone that will foster or adopt them.
As for the fire escape, they fully closed the gate by welding a metal sheet over the railing.
