Jackson is a three-year-old Golden Retriever who waited for adoption for nearly six months. And when a man named Steve Moore met Jackson, he was surprised and confused why nobody wanted to adopt the incredibly affectionate dog.
A month following his adoption, Jackson is now greatly adored by everyone he meets.
Steve took Jackson home with him, and since then, they engaged in daily training sessions. Although the man acknowledges that he is not a professional trainer, his patience has enabled the Golden Retriever to understand the commands that he is given. It was also helpful that the dog was intelligent.
Staying in place was one of the first things that Steve taught his new dog. He wanted Jackson to know how to obey his directions.
At first, he would make him wait for a brief time. And as their training proceeded, the waiting period grew longer. And when he had gained enough confidence, he upgraded their training.
Steve brought his dog to a high-traffic location with many pedestrians and a great deal of noise. He wanted him to learn to avoid distractions and concentrate on his commands.
Again, he began with a brief wait time and gradually increased it. Jackson even attempted hiding and observing from a distance when he learned to focus on Steve’s commands.
Steve would occasionally enter a store while Jackson remained outside. He would proudly wear a sign around his neck indicating that he is waiting for his fur dad to arrive.
People fell totally in love with the dog. They were astounded by his obedience. They would even pet his head and even pose for photographs with him.
Many have also expressed a desire to take Jackson home. But Steve is unconcerned. Even when pushed or dragged, the dog refused to leave his position.
Jackson gained widespread popularity in their city and his story has been covered in numerous news outlets.
This definitely shows that shelter dogs are more than meets the eye.
