When Kkamsun, a Doberman, was born, she was perfectly healthy. But a few days later, her momma dog accidentally stepped on her. Her legs were almost crushed and she was most certainly in deep pain.
Instead of taking her to the vet, Kkamsun’s owner decided to surrender her to the local animal pound, where she didn’t have a very good chance of survival. Thankfully, her new mom came and gave her a new home.
Kkamsun’s injury seemed superficial to many people, including her adoptive mom. They thought she’d heal in no time and that she’d grow up to be a normal dog. Sadly, none of it happened. Sure, she grew up, but she was different, and she was completely paralyzed.
Unlike her new dog siblings, Kkamsun feared people. She twisted her emaciated body every time she attempted to run away and hide from visitors. She was quite terrified of the outside world and resorted to spending all of her time inside their home until she figured that being outdoors could be fun, too.
The young Doberman wondered why her dog siblings wanted to spend so much time outdoors. When she figured that’s when they can play freely and meet other people and dogs, she wanted to do the same. But realizing she couldn’t because of her disability, she fell into a deep depression.
With the tiniest hope that she’d be able to walk again, Kkamsun went to see a specialist in town. She underwent various tests but the results revealed that her paralysis was irreversible. It could get worse as she gets old.
Kkamsun went home with a broken heart. But a few days later, she received some good news. A complete stranger learned about her situation and decided to help. With the man’s donation, she was able to get her own wheelchair.
For the first time, Kkamsun was outdoors. She was free and mobile and she was the happiest. She waited so long to be able to stand, walk, and play. Everything she dreamt of finally came true.
